Facial masks and chin straps are sometimes used after facelift procedures to help reduce swelling. These are typically worn for 14 days after surgery. Their use and exactly how long they are worn are surgeon preference. Care must be taken to ensure proper fit and to avoid the development of creases and undue tension on the skin flaps in front of the ears. Also, patients don’t like to wear them. I no longer use them in my practice.
