Had a complete facial lift on 6/15/16. Why do I still have that sag under my chin?
Sagging Chin Suggestions
Mar 1, 2017
Without examining you and photos from before your surgery it is difficult to make a determination of exactly how much improvement you have had. Despite this, I can see the residual skin/fullness in the area under the chin and understand how you would have wanted this to be "better'. Ask your surgeon what they see and what options they can come up with to make that area improve. There are some new radio frequency devices that can tighten skin (Thermi RF, NeckTite) as well as the...

Non-Invasive Skin Tightening Options
Feb 23, 2017
Looking at your photos and age I would have to suggest either non-surgical or minimally invasive types of treatment to consider initially. There are a number of non-invasive methods such as Ultherapy that may help, or minimally invasive techniques such as radio frequency devices that can tighten skin (Neck Tite is one of them). Best idea is to see a plastic surgeon who can go over all the options and then, having examined you, can help you with formulating a plan that works for...
Any procedure to reduce affect of sagging lower eyelids short of surgery?
Non-Surgical options for lower lids
Feb 5, 2017
Hmmm..."sagging lower eyelids" are most commonly helped by surgery whether it is tightening of the lower lid support structures or excision of excessive skin. Removal of fat in the lower lid is also done on a conservative basis if that seems to be the problem. Each of those answers are, of course, surgical. There ARE non-surgical options if the "sagging" is mild. Skin crinkling can be addressed by laser resurfacing. Some of the non-invasive energy devices such...
Is burning normal the first day of getting Juvederm fillers in my lips?
Check with Your Provider
Feb 5, 2017
Hi...Burning pain is not what I usually expect patients to report. Commonly there will be some tenderness to the lips and a bit of swelling but don't hear "burning sensation" from these patients. If you have a color change, significant pain or even if you are a bit concerned the best option is to contact and go see your provider so they can examine you and make sure everything is OK... that is what I wouldwant my patients to do. Hope this helps.

Between all of the injectables: Botox, Dysport and Xeomin, do any of them cause less bruising?
Neurotoxin Bruising
Jan 28, 2017
As unfortunate as your experience was, bruising is not related to which type of neurotoxin that was used. It may be related to other factors such as recent aspirin, Advil, Motrin, ibuprofen, Aleve ingestion which can lead to more bruising and bleeding with any infection. Some bruising is fairly common, but they are usually fairly small. Occasionally every practitioner will have a larger bruise on a patient...which no one is happy about, patient or practitioner.

Botox: Am I having an allergic reaction?
Flu Follow Up
Jan 28, 2017
Flu like symptoms related to a recent Botox injection have been reported. Of course, there is no real way to know if you were going to get a virus/flu in any case. In general, these symptoms go away within a day or two. If the symptoms persist you should notify the practitioner who treated you to get their opinion and if it continues get follow up care from that specialist. Hope it all settles down...

Loose skin on chin and spreading to neck at 38, what are my options?
Non Invasive Neck Lift
Jan 13, 2017
Given your relatively young age and desire to avoid a neck lift there are still a number of things you could potentially investigate to see if they would be of benefit to you... These include Ultherapy which uses ultrasound to tighten tissues as well as some of the newest injectable radio frequency machines... NeckTite, Thermitite, FaceTite are several of these. Each of these are significantly less invasive than open surgery and is completely non-invasive. See a Plastic Surgeon...

Neck Slimming Options
Jan 13, 2017
Hello,

You look to be a poster child for some of the newest forms of injectable radio-frequency machines which are much less invasive than open surgery but can provide significant skin tightening. Other options include Ultherapy® which uses ultrasound to tighten the tissues... and is commonly used on the neck.

Can Juvederm injections to cheeks be corrected with hyaluronidase? I am having difficulty correcting
Permanency of Juvéderm
Jan 4, 2017
Jgincali,

Although you are not currently happy with the results of your treatment it would be exceptionally unusual for any Juvederm product to be "permanent". Hyaluronidasecan be used but sometimes it takes several treatments for the complete resolution of your area of concern. It also depends on how many "units" of hyaluronidase was used to try and dissolve the product and the amount of Juvederm that was placed. Don't despair, keep in close contact with the treating...

When will a lump after Juvederm fillers disappear?
Juvéderm Advice
Dec 4, 2016
Elinka,

Juvéderm can last quite awhile. Several patients have had visible evidence of presence of the product up to one year after treatment although in most patients it is clinically "gone" in about 6 months. If you have already had hyaluronidase injected to the area it would be reasonable to inject the hyaluronidase again... unlikely to cause harm and may speed up dissolution of the bump. I would suggest you return to the injector and get their input and if ...

Suture Removal Timeframe
Nov 26, 2016
Eyelid sutures are commonly removed somewhere in the time frame of 4 to 7 days after surgery. Problems can happen but are rare. It is also common for bruising and swelling to still be present to some degree when the sutures are removed. Hope this helps calm down some of your concerns...J. Wethe, MD

Botox
Nov 18, 2016
Hmmmm.... seems a bit odd. Botox routinely lasts 3 to 4 months and rarely do I have a patient with an effect past 5 months. Botox is not a permanent treatment so any effect related to the Botox should go away. Speak to your injector and follow with them on a scheduled basis. If this continues past 6 months then I would recommend seeing an Oculoplastic Surgeon for proper evaluation and diagnosis as to the source. Hope this helps

I am scheduled to have a Botox brow lift. How effective are they in lifting?
Botox for Eyebrows
Nov 11, 2016
Botox can elevate the outer portion of the eyebrow a couple of millimeters and is a quick and easy way to correct a portion of the hooding of the eyelid from a falling eyebrow. The advantage is that Botox is quick to perform and if you like the results you can continue to use Botox for that purpose. The "down" side is that it does not act immediately and takes roughly 3 to 7 days to have an effect. In addition, if you love the result you will need to repeat the...
When is the best time to start a facelift? How may facelifts can I safely do in a lifetime?
Facelift Timing
Nov 11, 2016
The best "time" to have a facelift is when the effects of aging bother you enough that you notice them daily to weekly. This could be anytime from age 40 and beyond but there is no magic age when a facelift is necessary. Seek out a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your concern(s) and that surgeon can provide information as to what options there are and what outcomes could be expected. Hope this helps...
