Initial recovery after breast augmentation is 3 to 5 days. In my practice we see all our breast augmentations the day after surgery to assess that all is progressing according to plan. Most patients can go back to work and drive after 5 days, there will still be some swelling and tenderness, but that subsides day by day. When it comes to strenuous exercise and upper body exercise I recommend waiting 4 to 6 weeks. Scars will fade with time, usually becoming lighter after a year.
