Answer Snippet
Sunken Eye Orbital Fracture?
Definitely need CT
Mar 1, 2013
Agree with others.

1. You need a CT scan of the facial bones/orbits. Need to look for evidence of other previous fractures so that you can be treated correctly

2. You need an Ophthalmology exam. Specifically (provided no depressed cheek bone fracture) to get a hertel Exophthalmometer reading. This measurement will tell you if you have a significant difference between the two eyes.

3. If you are not having trouble with vision ie double vision, really…

How Much Money Should I Set Aside in Case of Revision Surgeries or Severe Complication Fees?
Tough to answer, but info you should know…
Jun 25, 2012
Very tough to answer, and I applaud the previous surgeons on their answers. I do want to provide some additional information and opinion.

As a common point of discussion, lets assume a surgery generates THREE bills: 1. a surgeons fee, 2. a facility fee, and 3. anesthesia provider fee.

It is my opinion that reputable surgeons will not charge for additional surgeon’s fee for any revision work as long as that revision work is temporally close to the surgery. ie,…

What Factors into the Price of Radiesse Injections?
Usually based on the number of syringes – ie volume
Nov 26, 2011
Usually most practitioners charge for radiesse by the syringe. I usually carry a 1.5 cc syringe. I usually can take care of most folks with 1 syringe but occasionally someone will require two and I do prefer to stage these at leaset 2-3 weeks apart.

Hope this helps! cheers.

Will Dysport Wear off Quickly if I Am Practicing Bikram Yoga Regularly (3-6 Times a Week)
Nope
Feb 20, 2011
Agreed with Dr. Placik.  How long dsyport sticks around should not be related to your excercise regimen.

Cheers!

What Kind of Compression Garmet Do I Need?
You definitely want to ask your Plastic Surgeon.
Jan 10, 2011
There are a variety of companies that offer compression garments.  Marena group comes to mind (NOT an endorsement!) but there are several others.  Regardless you definitely want to talk to your doctor about what kind of garment.  Your surgeon should help guide you as to what kind of garment to get, and can guide you much better.  Good luck!
Will Radiesse Have Less Side Effects and Bruising Than Restylane?
Hard to say.
Dec 15, 2010
I'm sorry to hear you had bruising for so long restylane injections.  Unfortunately it happens to all of us once in a while, and I hope you do not look poorly on your physician for causing a bruise.

Whether you get more or less bruising or swelling is difficult to say.  It is also difficult to compare the apples and oranges of restylane and radiesse since they are used often for different purposes, in different tissue planes, and with different injection techniques…

Options to Get a Harder Nipple (Post-Breast Cancer)?
Need a bit more info, but you do have options
Dec 3, 2010
Sarasota,

So it's a bit unclear whether you have already had nipple reconstruction and it went flat, or are researching to find out how to prevent  flattening after nipple reconstruction.

This is a problem that has dogged us plastic surgeons for quite some time. Although we can often get a nipple quite upright, the scarring and tissue remodeling combined with pressure can often lead to nipple flattening.

Either way, whether you have already had a nipple…

Cheek Filler or Mid Face Lift?
Treat volume and skin. Pretty young for facelift
Nov 24, 2010
For 31 year olds, I think a facelift is too aggressive and too much surgery.   In addition I think the minimal facelift operation does not address volume or the skin as needed.  For Volume loss (hollow cheeks, etc) I prefer radiesse in the office, or for larger volume, fat grafting.  Hyaluronic acid fillers (juvederm, restylane) also may be needed for areas closer to skin.

For treatment of the skin, I prefer resurfacing.  Fraxel works, as do some peels….

Can Blepharoplasty Help Eye Bags That Are Primarily Due to Allergies?
for bags NOT due to allergies, yes
Nov 11, 2010
I would not plan on a surgery improving your allergic response.  However, If  your bags are already surgical in nature, then that baseline would likely improve with surgery.

Unfortunately the allergies tend to be a separate issue and will need to be controlled medically.  if you are not able to control those, you likely will continue to have swelling and worsening of your bags with or without surgery.

Cheers and good luck!

Can Hyaluronidase Be Used Incrementally to Avoid Dissolving All of the Juvederm?
yes, but no guarantees
Nov 11, 2010
It IS possible to try and only dissolve some hyaluronic acid filler, ie., juvederm.  The technique works if less units of the hyaluronidase is used.  The time to inject does not usually have much to do with it.  As with all these injections, it's difficult to gauge the outcome and your injector will not be able to gaurantee any result, but a decreased amount of hyaluronidase usually does the trick.  good luck!
Free TRAM flap vs. pedicled TRAM flap
Plain English
Apr 13, 2010
The other posters seem to have very good explanations but as a surgeon that offers both free and pedicled, the main difference to the patient is:
1. Free: Requires sacrificing less of the belly muscle thereby leaving you with a stronger abdominal wall, according to some studies. The operation takes longer to do and has some specific technical demands (microsurgery)
2. Pedicled: Older operation, works just fine, but requires a sacrificing more of the abdominal muscle. Operation is quicker…
Tips for avoiding Radiesse pain
Radiesse should be a smooth experience
Apr 13, 2010
Radiesse usually in my experience is not painful for multiple reasons.
1. Use numbing cream. Have the cream massaged in 1 hour before and again 1/2 hour before injection.
2. Mix Radiesse with local anesthetic. (ask your plastic surgeon/derm injector to do this if you have to)
3. Tiny shots for a nerve block before hand can give complete numbness and a pain FREE experience once the blocks are done. (again, you can request this from your experienced injectors.)
It should be a relatively…
Virginia hyaluronidase recommendation
Let your fingers do the walking and be direct with your questions
Apr 12, 2010
I think in this situation you want someone that does lots of injections. Most significantly experience injectors will also know how to inject hyaluronidase to help dissolve the hyaluronic acid filler ie, juvederm, restylane etc.
Personally I think the real skin in hyaluronidase comes in injecting the correct amount to try and achieve the precise results. I think most injectors should feel comfortable.
Let your fingers do the walking! Call around to local injectors that are extremely…
Will I be happy with a breast lift alone and no implant?
Volume does not equate to perky
Apr 5, 2010
If you have enough volume, then you do not need an implant, and a breast lift should suffice to giving you a very natural aesthetic result. I disagree that an implant is required for a "home run".
On the other hand, you want to have an extended discussion with your plastic surgeon as to what exactly will "make you happy." I would look at pictures as to what a your surgeons breast lifts look like 6 months and 1 year out and also see what some results are with and…
Fraxel pain – how bad is it?
Fraxel pain is tolerable
Apr 5, 2010
In my experience, the fraxel experience is quite tolerable. My experience with the fraxel re:store is very positive. We have tweaked our technique to constantly make it more tolerable. If you choose an experienced "fraxeller" you should be just fine.
Typically the forehead is most sensitive in my experience. If you want you can also request an oral narcotic to help during the procedure but you will need someone to drive you home.
The results are usually very compelling and…
