Answer Snippet
If my height changed, can I still get a breast reduction? (Teenager)
Height change will not matter
Nov 23, 2014
As others have stated, there are many factors to consider when getting a breast reduction. A small change in your height should not impact your chances of having surgery approved by an insurance carrier. Having said that, it is always good to follow up with your surgeon if you have any concerns.
Microliposuction for Lower Cheeks
direct excision
Apr 6, 2011
Without an exam, it is hard to say for sure. However, there is an area fat in the cheeks that can be contoured or reduced. In my experience, direct excision is a better technique for this than liposuction. My advice would be to locate a board certified plastic surgeon who performs buccal fat pad excision and schedule a consultation.
Swelling 1 Month After Lipo
Normal to still have swelling
Apr 6, 2011
Any swelling that you have that you think may be abnormal should be evaluated by your surgeon. Having said that, depending on the volume removed and areas treated, in my experience it is very normal to still have swelling 1 month after liposuction. Of course the amount varies based on your level of activity and compliance with compression.
Breast Lift vs. Lift w/ Implants for Upper Pole Fullness
Lift vs Lift with implants
Mar 27, 2011
In my opinion, breast implants should be used if you want larger breasts. The idea of an implant combined with a breast reduction does not make much sense. Also, the size of implant should be determined by your measurements and soft tissue characteristics. Often and implant that is too small can look just as bad as an implant that is too big.
Breast Size and Placement
hard question to answer without exam
Mar 26, 2011
Without an exam this is a hard question to answer. Sizing implants for patients can be challenging. My approach is to evaluate the breast measurements, chest wall anatomy, and skin quality when determining implant size and plane of dissection. Your surgeon should be able to explain why a he or she recommends a specific implant and dissection plane so that you can understand what factors are being considered.
Breast Augmentation w/ Lift Needed?
Need a lift
Mar 26, 2011
Based only on your pictures and your description of "deflated" breasts, I would say that you would certainly benefit from a mastopexy/breast lift. Augmentation alone will not lift your breasts up. I think many surgeons would place large implants in this situation in order to avoid a breast lift. In my experience this looks good temporarily but ultimately results in the skin being more stretched and looking worse over time.
Petite - Is 325cc Too Large?
choosing a breast implant
Mar 25, 2011
Sizing patients for breast implants can be challenging. In my opinion, your surgeon should base this decision by measuring your breasts and evaluating your chest anatomy and skin quality. Often, this results in recommending implants that are smaller or sometimes larger than a patient may request. Finding the "right fit" will help give you a result that is proportional to your frame and can help avoid some implant related complications.
Natural Anatomy - Bottomed Out Breasts?
bottomed out breasts
Mar 25, 2011
From your pictures, it looks a like you have some glandular ptosis. What this means is that, as you described, the lower portion or your breast is sagging but the nipple postion is up higher where it belongs. I do think you have options still for breast augmentation and I would  encourage you seek a second opinion.
Paying to Replace Leaking Implants
revision costs vary
Mar 25, 2011
Surgical cost vary from doctor to doctor and ussully include a professional fee, anesthesia fee, facility fee, and implant charges. The implant warranty will cover a portion of the cost to repalce the leaking implant. If this event occured 8 years after your initial surgery it would be hard to assume that the implant leaked because of something that the doctor did. Both saline and siliocne implants can leak over time.  At this point the leaking implant needs to be...
Should I Get a Physical Before Looking for a Surgeon?
Your surgeon can examine you
Mar 23, 2011
Your consultation for breast augmentation should include a full review of your health history and full physical exam is usually performed before surgery. Having regular physical exams with your primary care provider is always a good idea but your surgeon can certainly determine if you are healthy enough for surgery.
Will Juvederm bruise my face?
Any filler can cause brusing
Feb 17, 2010
In my experience, bruising with filler procedures can happen regardless of the product used. The amount of bruising varies with location of the injection and the injection technique. Also, patient factors such as aspirin and or alcohol use can aslo contribute.
Can asymmetric breasts be fixed without breast implants?
No implant with a breast reduction
Feb 17, 2010
Breast asymmetry can be a hard problem to address and not always as simple as placing an implant on the smaller side. Very often, the breasts are not only different sizes but also different shapes. An implant will augment the smaller breast but you still won't necessarily match the larger side if they are not the same shape. A breast reduction on the larger side would be one option. You would need a consulation to determine if enough tissue could safely be removed to match the size of the...
Breast lift recovery
Breast lift recovery
Sep 8, 2009
Recovery after breast lift surgery is usually pretty staightforward. Obviously women are all different and not every breast lift surgery is the same. Having said that, most women will have mild to moderate discomfort for the first 5-7 days and then do pretty well. The vast majority of patients go home the same day as the operation. Few may opt to spend one night in the hospital. Activity restrictions and wound care will vary amongst surgeons.
How is Breast Implant replacement surgery done?
No reason to wait for breast implant replacement
Aug 29, 2009
There is no reason to stage these procedures. In almost all cases this operation can be done at one time. Many plastic surgeons specialize in revisionary or re-do breast surgery, I suggest that you find one in your area.
How to keep the nerves under control for breast implants?
Anxiety before surgery
Aug 24, 2009
Having anxiety prior to any surgery is very normal. I try to combat this by doing everything possible to prepare the patients for what is ahead of them. This typically includes multiple preoperative visits, information packets about the surgery, and when possible talking to other patients who have already had the same procedure. If you are feeling a lot of anxiety you may want to call your surgeon and express your concerns. Sometimes a conversation can make all the difference.
