If Botox drips into my eye during injection of my forehead, can it cause severe headache and flu-
Botox in eye
Dec 22, 2015
I do not believe that your symptoms are from the Botox dripping into your eye. The cornea is quite avascular, and even in inner (conjunctival) surface of your eyelid would be unlikely to absorb Botox. If you had difficulty opening your eyelids, I could perhaps attribute it to local effects of Botox, but I suspect that your symptoms are due to something else, perhaps the flu!Good luck,Dr. Harkaway
I have some sun spots on my back and I want to get rid of them quickly, what do you suggest I do?
IPL for sun spots
Dec 15, 2015
Without seeing a picture, I would consider Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment to be probably the best option for sun spots. This excellent treatment, which usually takes 3-4 repetitions at monthly intervals, can help with brown or red spots. Of course, it is paramount to continue sun protection during and after treatment.Best regards,Dr Harkaway
Is 1 syringe of juvederm the average amount for lips?
Juvederm in the lips
Dec 12, 2015
This is a good question. You have very nice lips to begin with- I would absolutely not recommend more than one syringe. One may in fact be way too much- you are correct in saying any excess could be used elsewhere! Have a frank discussion with your injector to make sure that he or she is on the same page about not overinjecting.Best regards,Dr Harkaway
I want to have Juvederm fillers for my chin area, are they safe?
Juvederm for chin
Dec 8, 2015
I use Juvederm frequently for filling in chin depressions and lines. Without seeing a picture of what you are trying to describe, I cannot say if it would be appropriate for your situation, but certainly it is safely utilized in that area and is very effective. The one place it is not useful is in the mental crease (a line going horizontally about one inch below the lower lip. That line is usually quite resistant to all fillers, for some reason!Best regards,Dr Harkaway
Would half a syringe of juvederm be beneficial?
Juvederm for lips
Dec 7, 2015
Thank you for your question. Yes, it sounds like a half syringe would fit your needs very well. The lips often do not need too much – a little bit goes a long way to create a natural, fuller lip.Best regards,Dr Harkaway
2 vials Juvederms vo lift no difference?
Voluma with no significant change
Dec 3, 2015
I’m sorry that you are disappointed. Although it seems like a lot of filler, realize that FIVE syringes of filler is equivalent only to one teaspoon!! It may simply be that you need more. Perhaps your injector will work with you to achieve a result that you area happy with.Best regards,Dr Harkaway
How much will it cost for Botox for deep frown lines in a 55 year old man in the NJ area?
Botox for frown lines
Dec 2, 2015
Here in New Jersey, Botox is usually priced by the unit, and can be anywhere from $10-15 per unit, which translates into about $250-$500, depending on how much is needed. Remember, however, that this is your face- choose your provider for their experience in injecting, and you will have the best outcome!Best regards,Dr. Harkaway
I’m 53 yr old female w/ downward “Mouth Frown” lines & folds @ Lip Corners (Marionette Lines?). W
Fillers, botox for Marionette Lines
Nov 25, 2015
Don’t despair!!! You can easily be helped. Filler placed into the Marionette lines will make a huge difference – and yours is not even a bad case!! Some Botox in the DAO muscle can also help – but make sure you are using an experienced injector for both these procedures – doc-in-the-box types will not be able to do it proficiently. Best regards,Dr Harkaway
Angry looks after Botox a week ago on forehead and near my eyebrows. Is this normal?
Botox for forehead lines
Nov 24, 2015
Treating the forehead lines (as opposed to the “elevens” can be very tricky. The muscle that is being treated keeps the eyebrows up, so inhibiting it can then lead to an eyebrow drop, which is what your photo appears to show. This will resolve over time, but is obviously not the effect you were looking for. I would return to your practitioner, and see if possibly injecting a little Botox into the corrugator muscle could help. But make sure, before you ask for this,…
I am getting laser treatment for hair removal. Will it reduce my wrinkles ?
Laser Hair Removal and Wrinkles
Nov 23, 2015
Good question. I would certainly not trust any practitioner who asserts that laser hair removal will help with wrinkle reduction. While theoretically it may build a tiny amount of collagen, this is unlikely to be noticeable.Best regards,Dr Harkaway
Can anyone advise me what to do for broken veins anad pigmentation on my upper cheeks/under my ey
Facial Veins and Pigmentation
Nov 22, 2015
Please don’t be depressed and hide. Many people have this problem, which fortunately can usually be treated with one or another laser. There are many lasers for various problems – see a practitioner who has several types of laser to make sure that you will be treated with the best one(s) for your situation.Best regards,Dr Harkaway
I am 27 and I am concerned about the lines between my eyebrows. What is the best prevention metho
Botox for forehead lines
Nov 21, 2015
Although friends and family may tell you differently, it is actually a very good thing to begin Botox treatments for the for the “elevens”, before the become etched in and more difficult to treat. Beginning to treat them now will therefore prevent you from ever developing them. As to the sustainability, many patients have been getting Botox for 15+ years wil no untoward events.
Can my 13 year old child have hair laser treatment?
Laser Hair Removal for children
Nov 21, 2015
Yes, it is perfectly safe for your daughter to have laser hair removal at age 13. I have treated children much younger than that with no problems. As she grows older she will probably need some more treatments, as new hair my grow from her changing metabolism, but that if that is not a problem, she may certainly have it done!
Frown Line treatment, what is your thought?
Botox and filler
Nov 19, 2015
Hannah, I have treated several patients who look like you very successfully with a combination of both Botox and filler. Botox will relax the muscles which cause the problem, and I would then place filler somewhat deeply to raise up the central depressed area. Be sure to go to an experienced injector – a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Fly-by-night types will not know how to do this properly. Best regards,Dr Harkaway
Cannula Needles. Are they better to use for lip fillers?
Cannulas for lip filler with Juvederm
Nov 18, 2015
This is an excellent question. Cannulas have an advantage of fewer injection sites, but sometime this is at the expense of precision. The choice of injector is the most important aspect, in my opinion.
