Nipple/breast numbness after breast reduction

Swelling after breast reduction surgery takes time to resolve. By 3 months, most swelling has improved. When there is loss of sensation in the immediate postoperative time period, it may be due to postoperative swelling. In your situation, only time will tell if the sensation will return. You may notice some twinges of pain at times, and this can indicate return of sensation. Permanent loss of nipple or breast sensation, while rare, is a risk with breast reduction surgery.
