These are two completely different issues that should be addressed separately. And the gallbladder absolutely be addressed first. Hopefully they can fix this laparoscopically. If you end up with a large right upper quadrant abdomen scar from a gallbladder removal, it can affect the ability to do a safe tummy tuck. Once you were well, healed and symptom-free, then I would advise the diastasis repaired with the tummy tuck.

It is possible that they could cover this if they believe that it would fix your condition. However, I would find this to be unlikely as it is mostly a cosmetic procedure unless there’s also a hernia developing in the diastasis.

A cosmetic general surgeon or Plastic Surgeon would be best to fix your concerns. The diastasis repair is best fixed at the time of an abdominoplasty and a multitude of problems can also be repaired from the pregnancy.

While you could use laparoscopy to repair the diastasis recti, it will likely leave the skin on the abdomen even more bunched up and loose. In almost all cases, it would be best fixed through an abdominoplasty. Here not only will the muscle repair be done, but also any hernias fixed and finally also removing the excess skin.

Yes, you are correct. The “sinking in” is from diastasis recti. As significant as yours is, it is very likely to have to be repaired along with an abdominoplasty. This will not only fix the extra and damage skin, but also the indentation in your abdomen.
Can't Do Plication with Ventral Hernia Repair?

While different surgeons may have different opinions, I have to strongly disagree with the one that you’ve been given. If you truly have a central ventral hernia, then when you repair the diastasis it will also fix the ventral hernia with it. Further, the better news is that it usually can be fixed without mesh and has a much less likelihood of recurrence.
