When is skin excision necessary during a capsuloraphy for bottoming out?
Capsulorrhaphy with skin excision
Sep 20, 2015
Sorry to hear of your challenges. Without seeing photos or being able to examine you, it is difficult to say whether or not you would require skin excision. Most commonly, if implants have lateral and inferior displacement, that sounds like the capsule is too large for the implant. In this case, this can be addressed with a capsulorrhaphy alone, or possibly a revision of the capsule and a larger implant. If, however, on exam you have excess length of the lower pole of your breast,…
About 2 years back I was able to get implants. I feel like they feel somewhat harder and look bigge
Capsular contracture is a possible explanation
Sep 20, 2015
Breasts becoming firmer and larger after breast augmentation can be caused by a few processes. The most common cause would be the development of scar tissue contracture around your implants. Without examining you, or seeing photos over the years, it is difficult to say for sure. In some instances, capsular contracture can change the shape of your implants, and make them firmer. If your breasts appear to be getting larger, in some cases fluid can accumulate around the implants –…
Is TT safe if BP dropped during last c-section and had lots of scar tissue?
C-sections and tummy tucks
Jul 5, 2015
First of all, I’m sorry to hear you had that experience with your last C-section. Second, it sounds as if this experience was not a general trend with all of your C-sections. Just because you had a potential complication with one cesarean section does not automatically exclude you from being considered for a tummy tuck. It would be important to find out what events occurred during your last C-section. It would be important to know if your…
To use or not use alloderm in breast revision?
Alloderm may be helpful in revision breast reconstruction
Jun 14, 2015
In breast reconstruction revision surgeries, several factors need to be considered. With ruptured implants, frequently it is necessary to excise some of the thickened scar tissue capsule around the old implants. Depending on the quality of the overlying skin, and the thickness of the skin flaps, it may or may not be necessary to provide some additional support and thickness. Frequently, some type of material, such as AlloDerm, can be used to provide support for the new…
What can I expect my reconstruction options to be for a wound on my right temple?
Mohs defect on right temple
Jun 7, 2015
In general, there are 4 main options for dealing with Mohs defects. The choice of the option depends on the size of the defect, and the location. First, some defects can be left to heal by themselves, allowing the wound to slowly close in. Another option is to consider loosening the surrounding skin, called undermining, and then closing the wound primarily. On the temple, it would need to be assessed if this would elevate your eyebrow or not. Third, there is the option of a skin graft, from…
