Thank you for your request for information on a mommy makeover. This is a term used for a group of procedures .Each is customized to the individual, depending upon your body and goals. Usually, we are addressing concerns with the abdominal area with a tummy tuck. Breasts may need lifting and/or augmentation. Also, I frequently do liposuction of the legs and arms with these. It is prefferable to be near your ideal body weight to achieve the best results possible.

Thank you for your question and photos. For a full tummy tuck and breast lift, most people are going to need 3 to 4 weeks off work and possibly longer depending on the physical demands of your job. I do not allow any exercising for 6 weeks after this procedure. You will have some swelling in both areas that may last up to a few months. Thank you for your question. It is often not easy to tell if residual fullness after gynecomastia surgery is scar or glans tissue. However, if your surgeon gave you a kenalog injection and the area improved, that is good evidence that you are dealing with scar. I recommend close follow-up with your surgeon and get kenalog treatments as he/she suggests. Best wishes

Thank you for your question. Drains are kept in until the fluid production slows down enough to be absorbed by the body itself. Usually, this is about 20 cc per day. Being more active will cause your body to make more fluid and prolong the need for the drains. I advise close follow-up with your Plastic Surgeon and adhere to his/her post operative instructions closely. Best wishes.

Thank you for your question and photo. To set your mind at ease, there is no correlation between gynecomastia and male breast cancer. While men can get breast cancer, it is very rare. The reason to have this removed is because of the embarrassment it causes. I recommend seeing a board certified Plastic Surgeon to discuss your concerns and learn of the options. Best wishes

Thank you for your question. You should stop smoking today (about 2 weeks ) before your surgery. Things should be fine then. I recommend to all my patients to refrain from smoking for at least 4 weeks after surgery to allow healing to sufficiently progress. If you can quit for 4 weeks, then you can quit forever, which is my wish for you.

Thank you for your question. For males who have true gynecomastia, liposuction alone usually is not enough. Most will require the excision of the hard, glandular tissue around the nipple. However, if you have just excess body fat in the chest area (called pseudo-gynecomastia) then liposuction alone may be adequate. I would wait 2 to 3 months to allow the swelling to go down and then judge the results. Best wishes.

Thank you for your question. If you have true gynecomastia, this probably will not go away by itself. But you could have just large nipples or a collection of body fat under them. Thank you for your question. Swollen nipples can be caused by a condition called gynecomastia, or it may just be a collection of body fat. The only way to be sure is to have your doctor examine you. Ask your doctor about this. If you are really bothered by it, there are procedures that a Plastic Surgeon can do to make them flat. Thank you for your question and photo. It is not uncommon for boys this age to develop some breast tissue, called gynecomastia. However, in many of them it will resolve or at least improve over time. I would wait until he is in his late teens and then see if it is still a problem. Surgery is needed to correct this, but if it gets better on its own, may not be necessary. Thank you for your question and photo. Punch excision is one method frequently used to treat scars like this one. The goal is to trade a round, sunken scar for a smooth, flat, line scar.
