Can I get a thread lift 2 years after a lower face lift for my jawline?
Thread lift after face lift
Dec 14, 2022
Hello pfnurse1,
It is absolutely safe to have a thread lift 2 years after a lower face lift. The PDO threads help to stimulate collagen production and will further contour and lift the area treated. The PDO threads dissolve in 4 – 6 months but continue to keep the treated area lifted for up to 2 years. As always, please see a licensed provider in your local area for assessment and more information.
Can you have Renuvion without Liposuction?
Renuvion after previous liposuction
Dec 14, 2022
Hello Jlaw_303,
You can absolutely have a Renuvion procedure post previous liposuction. The procedure will be similar in that the provider will need to dissect the tissue in order to make tunnels for the Renuvion energy to have space to contract the tissue. The efficacy should not be compromised as you have already had liposuction. Renuvion works great with liposuction or as a stand-alone procedure for the right patient. As always, please contact your local provider for an assessment and…
How long do PDO thread lifts last?
Lasting effects of PDO thread lift
Dec 14, 2022
Hello ItsMeGuys,
Thank you for your question. PDO thread lifts typically last from 12 months to 18 months depending on the patient and the PDO thread used. The threads are surgical sutures and are absorbed within 4 to 6 months. During this time, fibroblasts are stimulated and cause neocollagenesis in the area treated which creates new structure within the skin. This new structure continues to lift the tissues for the remaining months. Thread lifts are a great option for correcting mild to…
How long after having the implants removed would I have to wait for fat grafting to my breast?
Explant with fat transfer
Aug 31, 2022
Hello, I routinely do fat grafting at the same time as the explantation. I see no reason why they cannot be performed at the same time. Sometimes fat grafting may need to be performed in a staged fashion or more than once in order to achieve the optimal aesthetic goals. The cost is extremely variable and thus difficult to give a number.
If I get a breast explant without a lift, will my breasts be flat and droopy?
Explant without a lift
Aug 31, 2022
Hello, without examination or photos it is difficult to determine if a mastopexy would be beneficial. But in general, large implants often stretch out and thin out the breast tissues. Because your implants have only been in for six months, it is likely the degree of stretching and thinning of your breast tissue is not as much for those patients that have had their implants in for longer. After explantation, the breast tissue often does become ptotic (droopy) and flat and causes an appearance…
Will I need a breast lift after explant surgery?
Explant with lift
Aug 31, 2022
Hello, without examination or photos it is difficult to determine if a mastopexy would be beneficial. But in general, large implants often stretch out and thin out the breast tissues. The ripples you are seeing are likely due to larger implants thinning and stretching out the tissues in that region. After explantation, the breast tissue often does become ptotic (droopy) and flat and causes an appearance for many people that is cosmetically unacceptable. This is not always the case and if the…
Could this be breast implant illness? Would it be worth removing them to see if my symptoms subsi
Breast Implant Illness
Aug 30, 2022
This is a very difficult issue with many factors to consider. I do believe some people have systemic issues related to breast implants; however, there are no markers nor any tests that can be performed to definitively determine which patients may be experiencing issues due to their implants. Unfortunately there is no way currently to predict which patients will experience improvements in their symptoms after explantation and who will not.
Stitches never dissolved from breast lift
Absorbable sutures
Aug 30, 2022
There are many possibilities for the issues you are having regarding the sutures. The sutures could have been non absorbable although it is unlikely that non absorbable sutures would have been placed within the tissues. Also, the sutures could be very long lasting but yet still absorbable sutures. Often times if the sutures are placed too superficially the body may not absorb the sutures and suture abscesses may occur. These are separate issues from the widened scars and again there are many…
Breast lift with implants downtime, at 6 weeks post op what is typical recovery looking like?
Breast Augmentation with Mastopexy Recovery Time
Aug 30, 2022
Hello, for my patients I do not restrict activity after six weeks post op. At that point, the healing has plateaued in most patients, and I allow them to resume all activities that they could have performed preoperatively.
Can side sleeping ruin breast implants (1 year post-op)?
Slide sleeping with breast implants
Aug 30, 2022
Hello, for my patients I do not require prolong use of surgical bra nor do I ask them to avoid sleeping on their side. I do not believe the implant, nor the implant pocket would be harmed by side sleeping once complete healing has occurred.
Is it possible to transfer fat from my left breast to my right breast?
Fat transfer from left breast to right breast
Aug 30, 2022
Hello, this is a very good question. Transferring tissue from one breast to another is something I think most surgeons would be hesitant to do. First the breast is composed of both fatty tissue and glandular tissue, and it is difficult to perform liposuction of the breast due to the glandular tissue. Also, in the absence of preoperative imaging there is a theoretical risk of transferring malignant cells from one breast to another. If there is significant volume difference between the breasts…
I’m having an explant with a lift. How long does the actual surgery take? What is the recovery ti
Explant with mastopexy – surgery time and recovery
Aug 30, 2022
Hello, there is significant variation in the surgery time for this procedure. Often a complete or partial capsulectomy is performed with the explantation and depending upon the degree of capsulectomy performed this can increase the time significantly. If a complete capsulectomy is performed with the explantation and lift, the surgery time typically ranges in my practice between 2.5 hours – 3.5 hours. Again, the recovery time is very variable. Most of my patients can return to work in one to…
I am getting a breast lift w/ implant, can I get surgery if I’m nicotine free for 4.5 months?
Breast lift / implant and smoking cessation
Aug 27, 2022
Our patients at South Walton Plastic Surgery are advised to stop smoking at least six weeks prior to surgery and to continue smoke avoidance for at least two months following surgery. This does decrease the risk for complications including necrosis of the nipple-areola complex although there are other factors such as surgical technique and patient specific anatomy that can also increase the risk for complications. But smoking cessation is an important factor that the patient can control to…
