EMSCULPT was studied in 7 clinical trials in over 200 patients for treatment to the abdomen and buttocks.  Other areas that may be treated in the future could include the upper arms or thighs.  However, these are off-label (not studied and not FDA-cleared) and an extensive conversation and consent is required between physician and patient to weigh the risks and benefits of treatment before proceeding.

Results from EMSCULPT treatment are long lasting due to the supraphysiologic muscle contraction delivered from HIFEM technology.  The fat loss may be permanent, the muscle effects are long lasting (likely 6 months are longer).  After an initial series of 4 treatments, periodic maintenance (every 3-6 months) is recommended.  Reasonable dietary and exercise habits are also recommended.

Great question!  It is best to avoid this elective, cosmetic procedure in an area of prior hernia surgery.  The EMSCULPT device causes intense contraction of the muscles in the abdomen.  If there is a weakness in the area of the surgery, an adverse event from treatment could occur.  Best to be safe.

Jamie32,Remember you are getting the equivalent supraphysiologic muscle contraction work of around 20,000 sit ups (abs) or squats (buttocks) with a single 30 minute treatment session.  If you are sore from this the next day or so, hold off on overworking that area.  Let discomfort/pain be your guide.  If you are sore, hold off.  If you have no discomfort, proceed with caution.  Think of it as interval training during weight sessions.  Some choose to alternate muscle groups on different days....
can you do cellfina on inner thighs and front of thighs?

Cellfina is FDA-cleared for the treatment of dimple like cellulite areas of the buttocks and thighs.  In general, on the thighs, these are located on the back and side of the thighs.  Occasionally, some areas on the front of the thighs may be treated.  However, generally speaking, caution should be used in treating the inner thighs as that areas is less forgiving.

All medications, supplements, and foods (think flax seed and chia seeds) should be avoided for 7-10 days prior to Cellfina.  They alter the platelets and are ability to clot blood after injury.  Use of these prior to the procedure are likely to increase the severity of side effects following Cellfina, particularly bruising, swelling, and tenderness.
I need vein treatment for varicose veins and Cellfina. Does it matter which procedure I do first?

Varicose veins can be related to significant health morbidity (problems/conditions).  Cellfina treats a cosmetic diagnosis, cellulite.  I would recommend treating the medical condition (varicose veins) first prior to treating a cosmetic issue.

Large weight increases could affect the outcome of Cellfina.  However, it is less likely that weight loss would affect the fibrous septae that lead to cellulite.  Extreme weight loss may lead to skin laxity that should be address with skin tightening procedures or surgical procedures.

Bruising is possible for several weeks following treatment and the patient comments are likely related to this portion of recovery.  There were no permanent instances of pigmentation in patients in the clinical study and it is unlikely that the coloration this patient refers to is permanent.
