Do I Need to Wait for my Last Round of Botox to Wear off Before Doing miraDry?

There is no medical reason to have to wait until sweating is resumed after Botox to have MiraDry performed. Botox is a neurological treatment to temporarily suppress sweat gland activity. MiraDry is an anatomical elimination of the gland itself, and does not depend on how active the gland is at the time of treatment.

I have seen several patients who no longer get the duration of effect for Botox, and they do as well as Botox responders with MiraDry. MiraDry involves the elimination of sweat glands, whereas Botox temporarily suppresses the nerve stimulation of the gland. Since the sweat glands are no longer present, one does not have to worry about a tolerance being developed.
Do I Need to Shave my Armpits Before Getting a miraDry Treatment?

I agree with the other doctors that shaving is indeed necessary for success of the procedure.

The other issue is that there is often a permanent reduction of hair growth after the treatment. Women LOVE this 'side effect", and I have yet to see a male patient who would not gladly trade in his axillary hair for a fix for his hyperhidrosis. Because so many athletes and other males are now shaving their armpits, this has not been an issue at all.

We highly recommend the use of ice packs as soon as the procedure is finished, so it would be difficult to tell if you are sweating at the time. However, by the next morning almost every patient has noticed either a drastic reduction or total cessation of sweating. I agree that the second treatment is necassary to make this effect last.
What Treatments Are Available for Excessive Sweating?

There are two types of sweat glands in the underarm area. The ones that cause most of the watery sweat are called eccrine, and those that cause odor are apocrine. These produce a thicker, oilier secretion. The good news is that MiraDry has been effective in treating both types, so that sweating and odor are rather completely suppressed.
Is There a Risk of Having my Skin Burnt by miraDry?
So far, no significant side effects!

We have now treated dozens of patients and have yet to see a thermal injury with MiraDry. The most likely side effect of this nature would probably be a blister. However the Hydroceramic cooling plate is very effective in avoiding this problem.
