Liposuction in Lubbock is a popular cosmetic procedure that has become widespread. It has all the advantages of a mass method: it is relatively simple to perform, does not require long hospitalization, allows surgery in an outpatient, the percentage of postoperative complications is very low and, of course, the price is available.
From a technical point of view, liposuction is the suction of fat tissue with a vacuum pump – a kind of “fatty vacuum cleaner”. The procedure is carried out under general anesthesia.
Through a small hole, a thin tube is inserted into the subcutaneous fat tissue through which the surgeon slowly moves through one layer of tissues and removes fat.
Standard Liposuction
Standard liposuction has lost its former popularity, thanks to many works of Western specialists, which indicated a large number of aesthetic and clinical complications.
In our practice, there is fundamentally different statistics showing that with competent knowledge of the method one can expect to obtain quite stable results with a very low number of problems.
In addition, standard liposuction, which does not involve additional expensive equipment and a large expenditure of medications, is the cheapest method of lipocorrection, which is a very important factor.
Standard liposuction has two modifications – dry and wet.
Dry liposuction
The standard “dry” liposuction should be understood as its classical version, the one that was suggested by the ancestor of the method – the Roman doctor Fisher in 1974, who used cannulas used for abortion.
The essence of the method is quite simple: through small incisions (up to 0.5 cm), a cannula with one or more apertures at the end is inserted into the subcutaneous space. The diameter of the cannula depends on the volume and location of the fat being removed, as well as on the personal preferences and habits of the surgeon.
Currently, it is commonly believed that the cannula with a diameter of 0.3 to 0.5 cm has the smallest traumatic effect. As a rule, straight cannulas are used, but in some cases preference can be given to the curved canula. The other end of the cannula is connected to a vacuum device that creates a negative pressure, which ensures the removal of fat.
Fan-shaped introduction of the cannula with translational (forward-backward) movements provides two simultaneous processes: mechanical destruction of adipose tissue and vacuum aspiration. It is believed that the standard method is the most traumatic method among other types of liposuction, since it achieves the greatest damage to soft subcutaneous tissues with appropriate blood loss. Therefore, the volume of fat removed is rather limited, and, according to different authors, should not exceed 1-3 liters.
Wet liposuction in Lubbock
“Wet” liposuction differs from “dry” only in that the local anesthetic solution is previously introduced into the operation zone.
However, it should in no case be confused with tumescent liposuction, where the preliminary infiltration is carried out with a special solution. Traditional areas of liposuction in women: the abdomen, lateral surfaces on the back, the outer and inner surfaces of the thighs. Sometimes these are the front and back surfaces of the hips, knees, sides, neck, cheeks, upper arms, buttocks, calves.
Complex liposuction is carried out necessarily in stationary conditions under anesthesia. The operation lasts usually from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on which part of the body it is on, and on the amount of fat removed. Usually, during the operation, 1-2 liters of fat aspirate is removed.
At the site of the incision there is a scar not more than 1 cm long, which after 2 -3 months will look like a small red strip or circle. The patient should know that regardless of the size of the formation of the scar and its complete discoloration occurs within a year, and sometimes longer.
Tumescent liposuction
Tumescent liposuction is the most common in most developed countries. The reason for this popularity is less blood loss and tissue trauma during surgery, and, as a result, a reduction in the recovery period.
The essence of the method lies in the preliminary infiltration of the operation area with a special preparation (Klein solution) containing adrenaline, lidocaine and saline. After infiltration, a certain exposure time (20-40 minutes) must pass, during which the fatty tissue is diluted and therefore is removed more easily.
Postoperative period does not differ from that with standard liposuction.
Liposuction of mammary glands
We must say frankly that there are very few enthusiasts of this type of liposuction, but nevertheless, all the new works devoted to liposuction of mammary glands are constantly appearing in the scientific literature.
Moreover, after the appearance of ultrasonic devices for liposuction of the 3rd generation, even a slight increase in interest was noted.
There have appeared works, indicating the results of ultrasonic liposuction of mammary glands with the effect of their lifting due to postoperative reactive retraction (contraction) of the skin.
Indications
Liposuction is indicated for:
- Patients who want to get a young, contoured appearance, silhouette and size.
- Patients who want to wear more tight clothes, look better in a swimsuit.
- Patients who are concerned about local deposits of fat, resistant to diet and exercise.
- Patients with excessive accumulation of fat in the cheeks, chin, shoulders, abdomen, back, hips, knees, groin.
- Liposuction can also be indicated for patients with overweight, as an adjunct to diet and physical strain.
Complications
According to the APRS (American Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons), in carrying out a thorough follow-up of 1249 patients who underwent liposuction, the following complications were noted:
- hyperesthesia (increased, painful sensitivity) of the operation area – 2.6%;
- seroma – 1.6%;
- edema – 1.4%;
- pigmentation – 1%;
- chronic pain syndrome – 1%;
- postoperative hematoma – 0.8%;
- septic events – 0.6%;
- necrosis of the operating zone – 0.2%
It should be noted that such a small incidence of complications can be observed with the only important condition – an adequate surgeon’s competence. Liposuction is a highly effective method of giving your body new contours. These results, as a rule, are constant, give you the opportunity to eat well and exercise. The newly collected fat deposits will be distributed evenly, without deforming the created contour of the body.
