CoolSculpt after lipo?
Coolsculpting after Lipo
Feb 16, 2017
Thank you for your question and congratulations on your recent procedure! I advise my patients to wait 6-12 months after liposuction before considering a second procedure whether it be additional traditional liposuction or coolsculpting. Liposuction is the gift that keeps on giving and it can take up to a year to see the final results. You are likely still swollen so I would advise you to wait to see the final result before making that decision.
Is 3 days too early to go back to work after having an Arm Lift?
Back to Work after an Arm Lift
Feb 16, 2017
Thank you so much for your question! When consulting with patients, I generally make recommendations about returning to work on a case to case basis. However, most of my patients who sit a a desk for work and have light duties, return to work in about a week. I recommend that they continue to wear Tubigrip (a compression bandage) for a month after surgery so this would be visible if the patient did not wear long sleeves.
Wound opened on brachioplasty. Should I be worried? What should I do?
Wound Open post Brachio
Feb 16, 2017
Thank you for your question and congratulations on your recent procedure! Unfortunately, it is common to have wound healing issues in that area post surgery because that is a high tension area. Based on your photos, the wound appears clean. If you notice any increase in redness, swelling, drainage, or fever, I would advise you to contact your physician again or go to the Emergency Room.
Will lymph nodes be damaged or removed during brachioplasty and upper bodylift?
Brachioplasty and Lymph Nodes
Feb 16, 2017
Thank you so much for your question and congratulations on your weight loss! The major concentration of lymph nodes are located in the axilla and this procedure should not disrupt them. During a brachioplasty, we are simply removing excess skin and fat and should not be in your axilla at all. I would recommend that you find a board certified plastic surgeon in your area with experience in brachioplasty. It is possible, that a surgeon could be too aggressive and disrupt the lymphatic...
Mini Arm Lift Results- Is this normal?
Mini Arm Lift Results
Feb 16, 2017
Thank you for your question and congratulations on your recent procedure! It is very common to have swelling post op and many times this can be uneven. You are only 16 days post surgery so it is too early to tell what your result may be. I advise my patients that it can take 3-6 months for the swelling to subside. I suggest to my patients use Tubigrip (elasticated tubular bandage) as compression in order to decrease swelling more rapidly. This can be purchased at most...
Fair-skinned brachioplasty/arm lift patients?
Brachioplasty on Fair Skinned Patients
Feb 16, 2017
Thank you for your question! I have been in practice for over 30 years and performed countless brachioplastys on patients with a variety of different skin colors. In my experience, fair skinned patients tend to have better appearing scars as well as less hyperpigmentation. I place the incision in the same place that a tailor would place the seam on a dress shirt in order to be the least conspicuous. Post surgery, your surgeon should also be able to guide you with options for scar care....
Brachioplasty. How long after the surgery should I keep my arms elevated?
Elevating Arms after Brachio
Feb 16, 2017
Thank you so much for your question! Each plastic surgeon may have a different approach in terms of their recommendations post surgery. I do not require my patients to keep their arms elevated at all. I do ask that they wear a compression sleeve all of the time so that the swelling can be controlled.
Do my breasts sit too low on my chest?
Breast Implant Placement
Feb 2, 2017
Thank you so much for your question! Based on your photos, you had a very short distance from your nipple to your fold prior to surgery. It appears that your surgeon, lowered the fold in order to accommodate the size of the implant which is common practice. Additionally, you do have a long narrow torso and so the combination of those things may may your implants appear low. In general, I think you have an excellent result!
Breast with old silicone implant suddenly firmer and sore, could it be capsular contracture or i
CC or Inflammatory Breast Cancer?
Feb 2, 2017
Thank you for your question! In my experience, when patients indicate that their breasts start to feel differently even before getting hard and displaced, I generally speculate that they may have a forming capsular contracture. With this being said, I would advise you to visit a board certified plastic surgeon who can examine you. If he/she feels that this is a capsular contracture, they can suggest medication or surgery. If they are concerned that it could be some type of breast...
I'm a 36B and I want my breasts larger. I smoke pot that seems to help what do you think of that
Marajuana Use before and after surgery
Feb 2, 2017
Thank you so much for your question! Breast augmentation is the most popular procedure in plastic surgery and I think you would be happy if you desire larger breasts. I would recommend that you discuss your marajuana use with your plastic surgeon. While I cannot condone illegal drug use as a physician, in our practice, we only restrict patients from smoking cigarettes due to the nicotine.
Is it normal for skin to separate from nipple? 13 days post op.
Wound Care post op
Feb 2, 2017
Thank you so much for your question and I am so sorry you are dealing with this! It sounds as though your physician is doing the right thing by performing wound care. Many times through that process, the skin will heal on it's own. After it heals, if you have a scar, this can be revised at that time but your body has had a chance to recover. The nipple is a very common separation site. Best of luck!
I had breast augmentation eight weeks ago and I'm wondering if it's OK to wear a wire free under
Wire Free Underwire Bra
Feb 2, 2017
Congratulations on your recent surgery! As long as the bra is comfortable, you can absolutely wear it at 8 weeks post op!
What's the ideal weight for a breast augmentation?
Ideal Weight for a Breast Augmentation
Feb 2, 2017
Thank you so much for your question! I recommend that my patients are within 10 lbs of their goal weight and have a BMI of 30 or less in order to have the best result. A patient's BMI is directly linked to the probability that they will have some type of complication post surgery. A breast augmentation is an elective surgery and I would want to minimize as much risk as I can by ensuring my patient's are healthy enough for surgery.
Have I taken enough time off of work to heal after my BA?
Time Off of Work
Feb 2, 2017
Thank you so much for your question! I do have many patients who go back to work fairly soon after surgery if they sit at a desk and are not going to be doing any lifting. For you, I would recommend waiting at least 3 weeks to pick up the children you work with in order to avoid a post op hematoma.
Can ThermiTight or any other Ultrasound or Radiofrequency device be used on upper eyelids?
ThermiTight for upper eyelids
Feb 2, 2017
Thank you so much for your question! ThermiTight is not approved for use on the eyelids. However, you could definitely try ThermiSmooth for the area. Generally you need a series of treatments for ThermiSmooth. Other non-surgical options that you could look into to treat the upper eyelids are injectables like filler or botox to lift the eyebrow, CO2 laser, and IPL.
