It’s recommended to use an abdominal binder with a Velcro strap (similar to a waist trainer) and this is preferred for our patients. The Velcro strap makes it easier to take on and off and requires less effort for you to get in and out of.

If you’re worried about a scar, I like to remind patients that scars will fade but you have to consider what’s right for you. It would be a terrific idea to see a board certified plastic surgeon in person and possibly consider if you’d be happy with the results and a scar or happier with the tissue around your abdomen.
