Brow lift or eye lift?
A good question (and a very common one, too)
Apr 25, 2016
Short answer: eyelid surgery will not get rid of your glabellar creases (the 11s). Whether you need a browlift, a blepharoplasty, both, or neither can't be answered without photos and an examination. With a high hairline, the only technique I would consider for a browlift is the endoscopic browlift. This will not raise the hairline and may lower it. No skin is removed from the scalp; rather, the balance between the muscle that elevates the brow and those that depress it is changed.Good luck!
Is it harder to get a good result over age 60 when you have a facelift? They seem to be more effective
Not more effective, but...
Oct 6, 2014
As a general rule, the younger you are when you have a facelift, the longer the results will last. However, it is impossible to predict the longevity of results in an individual patient. The results in all patients generally last 5-10 years, but this varies a lot. My oldest facelift patient was 85, and she was very happy with her result!
How small can I go from a 36DD for a breast reduction?
Difficult to be precise
Oct 6, 2014
Hi,Since cup sizes are approximate and vary from bra to bra, it is impossible to guarantee a cup size. We can make the breasts as small as you wish, but generally the preferred result is in the B-C cup range, but this depends on your body type, height and weight as well as your preferences.Good luck!
I have involuntary wide opened eyes. It looks scary to see me. Can I treat my eye disorder?
Possibly hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid)...
Aug 31, 2014
One of the more common causes of a wide-eyed "staring" appearance. It can be easily diagnosed with simple blood tests. I would have this ruled out before investigating other causes.Good luck!
I want to get saline breast implants under the muscle. What are the chances of having complications?
Saline implants
Aug 2, 2014
Are filled with salt water, which is what we are also filled with. When a saline implant fails, it deflates and your body absorbs the saline. Replacing the deflated implant is a 20 minute procedure performed with local anesthesia and light sedation. I counsel patients that all breast implants are like tires: they are man-made inflated devices that move around in your body. You don't expect your tires to last forever, and neither do breast implants. I quote patients a 2% per year failure rate...
PS suggests suctioning out my natural breast tissue before getting implants?
Never heard of it
Jul 31, 2014
I am not familiar with this idea. I would be more comfortable with the other surgeons' recommendations.
Did I make a mistake choosing to get implants over the muscle?
No
Jul 27, 2014
I'm sure that you have found a lot of opinion on the internet indicating that implants should be placed under the pectoral muscles. Relax. I have been putting implants above and under the pecs for 27 years. My approach is to put the implants on top of the muscle if there is adequate soft tissue on the chest wall. If not, I recommend sub-pectoral placement. Both groups of patients have been very happy. If you are happy with your surgeon and your results, don't second-guess yourself.
Is a successful breast augmentation possible without a lift?
Of course!
Jul 21, 2014
In breasts like yours, augmentation will give the illusion of a breast lift as it will make more of the inferior part of the breast visible and make the nipple look higher. You can also mimic the effect of a lift with a good bra. 400 cc seems a little large for your frame...volume (cc) is not as important as the dimensions (diameter/projection) of the implants. You can always have a lift in the future and may be more willing to do so after pregnancies/nursing.Good luck!
Wonder if saline is a good choice. The dr. wants me to get saline 400cc HP. I don't want to look too bi
It depends on what YOU want!
Jul 21, 2014
There is no one correct answer here. The textbook answer is that you would be best served with a mastopexy (breast lift) and some type of implant...saline, silicone, under the muscle, over the muscle, textured, smooth...all have pros and cons that you should discuss with your surgeon. Sounds like you need to do a little more discussion with your surgeon to explore these issues. Find out what he/she is trying to accomplish with the suggested implant and tell him/her what you want...for...
I want to know if the left lower lid malposition and tearing can resolve without a new surgical procedu
Too early to tell
Jul 17, 2014
Lower lid malposition is an unfortunate but relatively common complication of lower eyelid surgery. While reasonably common in the early postoperative period, the vast majority of cases resolve without further surgery, but it takes time (3-6 months) for the tissues to soften and return to the normal position. Your surgeon's advice is sound. Keep following up with him/her and don't rush into another procedure.Good luck!
Hi, I am a 24 and only 5 ft 2 weight is 155. My chest is a 36DDD and I'd like to be a C cup. Will I be
It is worth a try...
Jul 17, 2014
Insurance companies are unpredictable in terms of covering breast reduction. Your best course of action is to see a surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery to obtain a complete evaluation and discussion of the best options for you. If he/she feels that insurance may cover the procedure, a request for pre-authorization can be made. This usually involves submission of photographs and a detailed description of your problems caused by the size and weight of your breasts.Good luck!
If you have a breast lift with silicone implants, will the results be permanent?
Very little in life is permanent...
Jul 17, 2014
Unfortunately, breast lift performed by ANY means is not permanent, as time and gravity never quit. While I am not familiar with the exact technique you describe, I am pretty confident that the results will not be permanent. Depending on many factors, however, the results could be quite long-lasting.
Incision won't heal 3 months post surgery. What is wrong?
Perhaps retained sutures?
Jul 17, 2014
It is difficult to tell exactly where this wound is located but what you describe is certainly abnormal. This course and appearance could be caused by retained sutures (either non-absorbable or absorbable that have not disappeared in the usual manner.) You should return to your original surgeon to have this evaluated.
Can I choose to forgo a breast lift if I just want the Breast Augmentation and don't mind the slight sa
Of course!
Jul 16, 2014
I am kind of a breast lift minimalist. In patients who want larger breasts and less sag, we determine which is more bothersome and do either the lift or the augmentation first. Implants will give the illusion of a lift in many "deflated" breasts, and a good bra does wonders. For those patients who decide they want additional elevation of the breasts, a mastopexy can always be done later.I will rarely do these operations together, but the circumstances have to be right.
Is it okay to get a Breast Augmentation and a Rhinoplasty at the same time?
I don't think so...
Jul 16, 2014
A rhinoplasty is not a sterile procedure, as the interior of the nose will never be completely free of bacteria. Some bacteria get into the bloodstream with this type of procedure. To combine this with a breast augmentation, where foreign bodies are placed, doesn't make sense to me, because of the risk of seeding the implants with bacteria. While we often combine procedures, this is one combination I would decline to perform.
