My breast are still saggy after breast implant. Any suggestions?
Saggy appearance after augmentation
Aug 9, 2015
Thank you for your question. It is hard to evaluate your situation without photographs or better yet an examination of your situation. 6 days after an augmentation is very early to determine the long term results, especially on a sub pectoral augmentation. In my experience the breast shape will undergo significant changes over the next few weeks as the implants “drop into position”. I know that it is hard, but try and be patient to see if the results improve with time…
Is it necessary to remove capsule when doing explant? What are the pros and cons of leaving it?
Capsule removal at the time of implant removal
Aug 9, 2015
Thank you for your question and you have obviously done your research well. If you remove the capsule you will remove some tissue along with the capsule. If the implant is sub glandular you will be removing breast tissue. If the implant is sub-pectoral you would be right on the pectorals muscle and the ribs of the chest wall to remove the capsule. These things will add to the deformity associated with implant removal. If the capsule is normal (not thickened or…
Surgery in 3 weeks and still trying to decide on size. I’m 5’10 and weigh 120lbs and thinking about
Selecting implant sizes
May 19, 2015
Thank you for your question. A question that I routinely ask my patients is “if I were going to make a mistake, would you rather be too large or too small”. If you answer that question as too large, select the 350. If too small, select the 325 and try and quit worrying about the difference between the two. The difference in size between these two implants is not that much. If a patient wants to change the size of their implants I rarely change them one implant…
Can Botox be used to lift my eyebrows? Or are they too severe?
Botox for eyebrow elevation
May 19, 2015
I think Botox may be a very good option for you! The brow position is not too low, in my opinion, for a few millimeter elevation to help you. Be careful who you select to do your injection, however. Some people would inject the entire forehead that can lead to the exact opposite of the look you are trying to achieve. Make sure you select a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for your care. Thank you for your question and good luck!
I’m in my 30s. Is that too young to get a facelift?
Facelift in 30’s
May 10, 2015
In general unless you have had significant weight loss or another condition that could lead to facial skin wrinkles, a standard facelift in your 30’s is pretty early. That being said, each person must be evaluated on his or her own condition. Wrinkles that are present with facial activity and gone when not smiling are considered functional wrinkles. These can often be treated with Botox, but in many locations the results of Botox injections are worse than the wrinkles in my…
I had a tummy tuck and breast augmentation 3 days ago and am now noticing a yellowish tinge to my f
Yellowish facial color
May 10, 2015
Thank you for your question. It is very difficult to know what is happening without a chance to evaluate you in person, but yellowish facial color can be a concerning issue. If this is diffuse yellowing of the skin and eyes, not just in a specific location, it is called jaundice and can be associated with problems with your liver. While I cannot be certain of this without evaluating you in person I would suggest that you contact your primary care physician and your surgeon….
Mastopexy with silicone under muscle 400cc. My left nipple is leaking breast milk. Is this normal?
Milky discharge
May 10, 2015
Thank you for your question. I understand that the open area and drainage can be concerning, but both of these things can certainly happen with this type of surgery. Your surgeon is doing the right things by paying very close attention to you. Sounds like things will heal with time. Good luck.
What kind of implant will give me a higher, fuller look?
Saline vs Silicone
May 10, 2015
Both saline and silicone implants can give very nice results, but there are differences. Saline has a tendency, depending on fill, to be a firmer and more rounded implant. Silicone is heavier and will settle in position with time to a more natural appearance. The switch to silicone will work against the higher and fuller look. Therefore to get that appearance you will need to increase volume. The question to consider now that you are looking to increase volume…
How many CCs should I go for if I want to go from a 32B to a small D?
Sizing
May 10, 2015
Thank you for your question. It is most often the most difficult decision a patient has to make. I do not believe there is a set number for cc’s to cup size. The same implant size gives a totally different appearance in a woman that is 5 foot tall and 100 lbs and another woman who is 5’8″ and 150. It also very much depends on the bra company as to what size you wear. Research has also shown that most women wear the wrong bra size. More important than cup…
My breasts are too high. Is it normal? I can feel implant on my right bottom boob 9 days after surg
Are implants too high?
May 10, 2015
Thanks for your question. At 9 days you are too early to know. Things look symmetric in position and that is good. The implants still have an oval type appearance (narrow in width) and this will likely stretch out with time to a more rounded appearance. Things will likely fall over the next few weeks, but it takes months to get final result. Discuss this with your doctor. Some will use a band to help stretch the pocket. Some will use massage…
11 days post BA, 400cc silicone and full lift. I have scars, white mark, scabs, etc. Is this an inf
Infection?
May 10, 2015
I am happy to say that I do not see any signs of infection and it looks like you will have a very nice result. A couple of things, however. I would stop massage for now. Too much activity may cause this small opening to widen. Also, I would not cover this with scar treatment for a while. These areas will likely heal without intervention, but better to be careful. It would still be best to check in with your surgeon. Good luck and thank you for your…
Will my scars get better?
Areolar scars
May 10, 2015
Scars that are over a year old will likely not improve. Thankfully there are options to improve shape and diameter of your areolar scars. This revision can likely be done with a local anesthetic. Please discuss this with your original surgeon. He or she would likely be happy to help
Will a crescent lift really be enough?
Crescent lift
May 10, 2015
Thank you for your very good question. While this may not be a lot of help, the answer is I can’t tell. Hopefully, however an explanation will help you answer your own question. Your photos are taken with a somewhat low to high angle. That makes things a little hard to determine. I was taught that the nipple complex should be at the inframammary fold or above. That means that the nipple should be above the crease that forms the bottom of the breast….
May a hypertrophic scar turn back to a normal scar on its own? (Photo0
Hypertrophic scar
May 10, 2015
Thank you for your question. Most importantly, that slightly hypertrophic scar will not cause low blood pressure. Surgical procedures in general can cause you to loose some endurance, but not lower your blood pressure. Please get that checked with your primary care physician.Scars will in general normally thicken, widen and increase in height for 2-3 months before they start getting better. If that scar is only 2 months old it will likely do very well. It does…
20 yrs old to get Botox? Any thoughts?
Botox at 20
May 10, 2015
The wrinkles treated by Botox are related to muscle activity. Having the muscles work again will lead to the creation of wrinkles. With advancing age, wrinkles do have a tendency to appear faster, but that is due to skin laxity issues and not stopping Botox. You have nothing to worry about that way.As for using Botox as a prevention, I am not a big fan. As my father used to say, “if it isn’t broken, I can’t fix it”. If you don’t have the wrinkles now, it may be years…
